Pre-care And Aftercare

Pre-care

DURING THE WEEK PRIOR TO YOUR TATTOO:

Make sure to exfoliate and moisturize your skin.

Avoid tanning/burning, as I cannot tattoo over flaking skin and will sadly have to reschedule you.

It's also advised to avoid using self-tanning lotions & bronzers before your appointment.

Drink plenty of water to keep your skin nice and hydrated.

THE DAY/NIGHT BEFORE YOUR TATTOO:

No excessive drinking. Alcohol in your system can lead to a thinning of your blood, which can make the tattoo process harder, leading to more overworked skin/tougher heals.

Go to bed early and get a good sleep. It’s always best to come in well rested.

THE MORNING/DAY OF YOUR TATTOO:

Strip down your bedding and replace your sheets. You want a fresh clean bed, with sheets that you don’t mind getting a stain or two on, as your tattoo can seep during the first few nights.

Make sure to take a shower.

Please limit your use of perfumes and colognes, but don’t skip the deodorant!

It's advised to wear dark clothing that you don't mind getting ink or blood on.

Some other things to consider bringing: music, headphones, breath mints/ gum, change of clothes.

Do not skip a meal prior to your tattoo. Your body will be going through a stressful experience, and you need sustenance and fuel to keep yourself going.

Remember to bring a hair tie if necessary, and nipple pasties/Band-Aids for modesty if desired.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:

I accept Cash, Debit, or E-Transfer as forms of payment. Credit & Cheques are not accepted at this time.

If you have any questions or concerns leading up to your appointment, please feel free to reach out!

Thank you so much, and I look forward to seeing you!

Aftercare

Congratulations on your new tattoo! After your tattoo is finished, you may have one of two different bandages. Please read the following instructions for your bandage type:

**Before dealing with any aftercare procedure, always wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly**

Regular Absorbent Bandage:

Keep the bandage on for a few hours and up to a maximum of 12 hours. You generally want to take it off when you get home and are in for the rest of the day/night.

Wash the tattoo gently with warm water and mild, scent-free soap, in the shower or sink. Try to avoid direct contact with the running water, as the skin will be sensitive and the water pressure may hurt. I suggest splashing the tattoo or testing a small area under the water first to gauge the sensitivity level of the area. Dry the tattoo gently with a clean towel or paper towel. DO NOT RE-BANDAGE.

Two days after receiving your new tattoo, apply a small amount of the recommended lotion and make sure it’s well absorbed into the skin. Do this 2-3 times per day. Always wash your hands before and after!

Repeat for two weeks or until the tattoo has completely healed. You’ll know that it’s healed when the skin is no longer scabbing/ flaking or shiny and has returned to a normal texture.

Transparent Film Dressing:

Try to keep the bandage on between 5-7 days. It's okay if it comes off sooner and will not damage the tattoo, but you may not get the full effect of the bandage. It may fill with some blood, plasma, and ink. This is completely normal if that happens. Do not try to pop the bandage to release the fluid. Remove the bandage if the fluid starts to leak out.

When removing, soak the bandage in the shower under warm/hot water for a few minutes to loosen the adhesive. Gently stretch or roll from one corner and slowly pull in the direction that hair would grow. Never pull or rip off the dressing quickly! It may damage your skin and tattoo.

After the bandage is removed, wash the tattoo with warm water, and the recommended soap. Make sure that all blood, plasma, or ink residue is fully washed off your tattoo. Dry the tattoo gently with a clean towel or paper towel.

Once the bandage is off, you will apply lotion to your tattoo 2-3 times a day until your tattoo is healed (about two weeks from receiving your tattoo, give or take).

THINGS TO AVOID:

Avoid soaking the tattoo in water (e.g. no baths, swimming, or hot tubs). Shower only until it is healed.

Avoid all direct sunlight until it is healed. Once it's healed, always put on sunscreen to protect it. Sun will damage a tattoo over time.

Never cover your tattoo with another bandage once removed. If you need to protect it against dust and dirt, wear loose-fitting clothing.

Don’t let any animals lick or brush against the tattoo (this includes children).

Don’t let anyone else touch your tattoo.

Never pick or scratch it.

Never put any medicated ointments or petroleum-based products on the tattoo! Petroleum blocks your skin from breathing and can slow down the healing process and may cause the tattoo to look "blurry" once healed. Certain medications can pull out the pigment as well. If you're unsure about certain medications, please let me know ahead of time, or consult your physician.

Natural products are often better for your body and the environment, however, they are usually not sterile and are not intended to be used in an open wound. Avoid them on your new tattoo while it’s healing.

TOUCH-UP POLICY:

If for any reason your tattoo requires a touch-up, please contact me to book an appointment. Within the first 3 months, touch-up services will be offered for $25.00 + tax (Excluding Hand, Neck, and Finger tattoos). You will know if you need a touch-up or not in about 2 weeks after receiving your tattoo. However, I will not tattoo the area until at least 4 weeks to ensure that the tattoo is fully healed. After 3 months you will be charged the regular tattoo fees.

If you have any further questions, please send me an email. I'm here to help you!

Thank you and I hope you enjoy your new tattoo!
